This is The Opposite Locker where we try and sort out the cool from the square. This is a discussion system detailing how cool a car is, not how fast, fun, or frivolous it may be, but how well it looks in the cat's pajamas. But, you may be asking, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

For an eco-car who's main goal is reducing fuel consumption and operating costs, the Volkswagen XL1 sure does !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The 261 MPG down-to-earth spaceship is actually targeted at those sorts of people that buy Lexus hybrids and only care about image rather than saving money in the emerging face of rising fuel costs, yet this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that continuously hangs over the performance appendages of automotive companies than the current strain of hybrid hypercars.

So, is this car too advanced, too technical to charge the slot of 'coolness' that these sorts of cars will eventually try to fill, or is the fact that the XL1 is achieving never before seen fuel consumption figures in a car that not only looks relatively normal, but also has the interior capacity and technology to compete with the current crop enough to say, "hey, get out of my way!"?

Looks like a God damn space ship and costs almost as much as one. Cool.

The only eco-car that I'd feel proud to pull up to some high-dollar event, and step out of. Cool.
Also, how in the bloody hell is the 370Z uncool? It's a serious sport-car performance bargain. It's 9/10's what a Boxster is for almost half the price. The only other cars that come close to that are the S2000 (which you have to rev unmercifully to get any kind of power) and the Mustang (which everyone's sister drives). The 370Z is cool.

This and a first gen Honda Insight, I'd rock one of them with a manual transmission in a heartbeat.
I may or may not have RSS feeds set up to notify me whenever one comes up for sale on craigslist.

the peaky powerband in the s2k was on purpose.
Also i was really hoping they'd stop showing off the BMW i8 and get to market with the damn thing, but since this is the first of the really new looking things, that makes it the coolest. I wouldn't quite go 'frigid'
